Student access

All students need a computer account. Once your paper selections have been made and you have accepted the enrolment agreement, your account will be fully enrolled in our system as a "Student" account and you will gain access to Moodle and other teaching and learning systems.

A computer account will give you the following:

  1. an email account
  2. internet access
  3. access to computer labs provided by your school of study for coursework and assignments.
  4. access to printing, scanning and copying
  5. access to H: Drive (Home Share) - a 2 GB secure file storage space also accessible off Campus (Web Drive / Web Home)
  6. access to the University online services (such as MyWaikato and Moodle etc.)

MyWaikato is your new, mobile-friendly system for managing your enrolments, enquiries, timetable, final grades, research progress, graduation, academic record and much more.


Many of our papers are either taught online, or have an online component. Moodle is the learning management system that the University uses to deliver these papers. You can access Moodle from or from MyWaikato. If you are taking a NET paper, you should log into Moodle as early as possible to become familiar with expectations for online participation and submission deadlines.

Student printing

Facilities have been provided UniCash to enable students to load money on their account to allow printing and photocopying. Students will need to maintain a positive balance to access these services.


UniCash is the term used for money that is put on a student's account to allow printing and photocopying. Student must have a positive UniCash balance to carry out these functions Tauranga campus students use UniCash for printing only, and Uniflow for photocopying.

To add money to your UniCash account you need a credit card or bank account with internet banking (we suggest one of the major banks). To add the money, you need to visit and follow the prompts.

Photocopying (Toi Ohomai Uniflow account)

To photocopy swipe your card and use the PIN you received when you registered your card. You can top up your Uniflow account at the cashiers in the Information Centre.
