Master of Educational Leadership

Interested in broadening your understanding of educational leadership and already hold a Bachelor of Teaching or Education qualification?

This accelerated masters qualification is designed for current or aspiring educational leaders, so you can make a contribution to your profession through higher learning. It is now possible to complete this programme in under one-and-a-half years of full-time study or two to four years of part-time study.

As a professional educator, it is possible to undertake a research project that focuses on your particular area of interest, allowing you to tailor your learning programme to meet your specific context. If you are interested in a career in academia and/or research, this qualification can be a pathway into doctoral study.

Programme delivery

The two required focus papers for the Master of Educational Leadership (MEdLeadership) are offered in block format in Tauranga: one in A semester, beginning in March, the other in B semester, beginning mid-July. You must then take a research methods paper and may choose to take one or two option papers before completing a piece of independent research of at least 30 points. If you are intending to progress to doctoral study, you should include at least 60 points of independent research within the MEdLeadership.
