Student ID cards

All students will now have their ID card registered at the enrolment centre before they are issued. For new students, you will need to go through the New User Setup to activate your account and set a password for your computer login.

We recommend that you also choose a secret question and answer for your security. Passwords expire after 180 days. You will be reminded via email and online announcements to change your password. If you don't change your password, your account will be locked and you will be unable to access it. If you can't access your account, please contact the ITS Service Desk at (07) 838 4008.

Upon issue of your ID card an email will be sent to your student email address with a PIN for use with Waikato IT systems. As a Tauranga student you will also be emailed a PIN for use on Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology (formerly Waiariki Bay of Plenty Polytechnic) campuses.

If you forget your Waikato PIN:

You will need to go to one of our Registration computers, swipe your card and login as an existing student and the Waikato PIN will be emailed to you followed by the Toi Ohomai PIN.

Take care not to damage the magnetic strip:

There is a magnetic strip on the back of the card, take care not to damage it or bend it. If you wish to attach the card to a key-ring, punch a hole only through the grey box shown on the card.

If you lose or damage your card:

A new card can be ordered at the Information Centres at the Windermere and Bongard Centre campuses or issued at the Student Information Centre on the Hamilton campus. You will be charged $15 for a new card, and your old card will be disabled so that others can't use it. For more information, please check our ID Cards page.
