Human Development is concerned with the study of the human lifespan from conception onwards.
In this programme you can study childhood, adolescence, adulthood and ageing - so this subject touches on something relevant to the lives of most people. Understanding how people develop throughout their lives and how social context can influence possibilites for individuals, is important and useful knowledge for everyone.
The theories and ideas behind Human Development are an important background for those wishing to go into professions such as social work, nursing and teaching. It is also a subject that informs social policy in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
