E-Services
You can access all of the University services while studying at a Bay of Plenty Polytechnic campus. First, you'll need to activate your ID card, find out your Waikato username and set a password to enable your access to these services.
To do this, visit an ID Card Registration Kiosk at either:- The Bay of Plenty Polytechnic Information Centre at the Bongard Centre
- Ako Atea (A Block), Windermere Campus

Your Bay of Plenty Polytechnic PIN will be required to access Bay of Plenty Polytechnic Computer Labs after-hours, and for free access to the Aquatic Centre pool during lunch times.
i Waikato
iWaikato is the University of Waikato portal. It offers browser access to University of Waikato information, services and applications. Login using your username and password and you will be able to check your enrolment, results, access course outlines and purchase course readings. There are other portals - Waikato Management School uses MyWeb and School of Education uses EdLinked - if you are enrolled in papers in those schools their portals will be very useful.
Computer Labs
Waikato University students at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic have access to computers at both the Bongard and Windermere campus. To use the computers at either campus, students must first have a Student ID card and register under the New User process through the ITS homepage or Kiosk.

Student Internet access
Access to the Internet for all students is via Lightwire. To gain access you will require a Lightwire account. To sign-up, visit www.lightwire.co.nz and follow the instructions. Make sure you follow the steps to associate your University of Waikato student username with your Lightwire account name to enable your automatic 1.5GB monthly allowance. As part of your enrolment as a University of Waikato student, you will receive an allowance of 1.5GB of Internet data per month. This data can be used for internet on campus, both in computer labs and on personal devices such as your laptop or smartphone. If you need to use more than 1.5GB of data, this can be purchased online from the University's student internet provider Lightwire.
Each student is automatically provided with a free email account through Google Mail (Gmail). Your email address is your username followed by @waikato.ac.nz. Check your email here.
File Space
You have your own personal secure file space to store important documents, files, assignments etc. it is often called your Home Share. You can access this on and off campus via the web, or when logged onto a University computer, it will be on the "H:" drive.
Printing and Photocopying
Printing and photocopying usually costs 10 cents per page (including GST) on black and white printers. Any printing and photocopying costs are automatically charged to your UniCash account.
UniCash
Each student has a UniCash account. To print your work you need to have money in your UniCash account. Money can be added to your UniCash account using:
1. Unicash Epay Kiosks allow you to top up your account balance using EFTPOS. They are located in:- The Bay of Plenty Polytechnic Information Centre at the Bongard Centre
- Ako Atea (A Block), Windermere Campus
2. Through MyWeb (the Waikato Management School portal) you can use your Visa or MasterCard credit card to put funds in your UniCash account. You can check your UniCash balance via iWaikato, MyWeb or EdLinked. No refunds are available from UniCash, so only load as much money onto your account as you think you will need.
Moodle
Many of our papers are either taught online, or have an online component. Moodle is the learning management system that the University uses to deliver these papers. You can access Moodle from www.elearn.waikato.ac.nz or from iWaikato, MyWeb or Edlinked. If you are taking a NET paper, you should log into Moodle as early as possible to become familiar with expectations for online participation and submission deadlines.
Library Services
You will be able to borrow books from the University libraries and the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic libraries if you are studying in Tauranga. You can also access the University Library's online databases and other services. Click here to read more about Library Services.
