Scholarships
Waikato offers more scholarships than any other New Zealand university. Each year, we provide approximately 1000 students with scholarships totalling $4.9 million. We also provide part-time and casual employment for over 700 students at an annual commitment of around $1.4 million. For more information, see www.waikato.ac.nz/scholarships
The Bay of Plenty Polytechnic also offers over 100 scholarships to help students meet fees, course-related costs and living expenses. They are not just for the top academic achievers. In some cases they can be gained by demonstrating a motivated attitude towards study, a passion to succeed, connections with certain iwi or hapu, leadership skills and so on. The criteria vary depending on the particular scholarship or grant.
The national BreakOut website at www.fis.org.nz/BreakOut/ may also list scholarships for which you might be eligible.
